Corporate Challenge kicks off!

One of the cool things that our company participates in is Corporate Challenge. "CC" kicked off the end of March down on Fremont Street. We had so much fun! The opening ceremonies included the Executive's Race. Five people from our management team had to tie a tie, bounce on a ball, proofread a document, blow a bubble and sit on a block of ice while singing a song. We placed FIRST in our division!!! Whoohoo!!! Below are pictures of the team, as well as our famous Mayor, Oscar Goodman!

One of the events I participated in by default was the range shoot. Yep, shooting a gun! I have shot some guns in my life but I am no where near expert. However, it's better to have me than have to forfiet right? We had 30 seconds to shoot six rounds, reload and shoot another six. Based on advice (turns out it was BAD advice) I was told to shoot fast because thirty seconds will fly by.

The first round was at 15 feet. I hit it twice in the same place, though no score. The second round was at 19 feet. Wow. I sucked. By the last round, I learned that shooting fast = really bad aim. So I slowed it down and managed to get 80 points out of 350. HAHA that's embarassing! When we were done with the event, one of the marshals asked me what my score was:

Marshal: "So, what did you end up with?"
Me: "I'm not gonna tell you"
Marshal: "Why not?"
Me: "Cuz you'll laugh at me!"
Marshal: "No I won't, I promise"
Me: " I scored 80"
Marshal: Laughing out loud, "But did you have fun?"
Me: "I had a blast!"
Marshal: "Then that's all that matters"

Amen! Sometimes all you can do is take one for the team and have a good time doing it!

Changes

Life has many changes. You can't escape them, but you can make the most of them. I recently went through a divorce. Talk about major change! Thank goodness we still remain close friends. I never understood when people said they made better friends than a couple until I went through it myself.

I do not regret any time spent during the seven years of my marriage. I learned a lot about myself, a lot about him and most importantly I learned what I need in a marriage. I won't lie, marriage is WORK! But in the end, hopefully you learn.

I recently bought my first home as a single person. It's a little scary doing it alone but I remind myself that there are many people who do this and many more that will. I look at it as an investment and can hopefully sell it when the market picks back up. Until then, I'm having "fun" (NOT) going up and down three flights of stairs. The best part is that I get exercise whether I want it or not.

Friends

I'm used to Wordpress so I can't figure out how to add pictures to the blog and not to the post. So for now, here are some pictures of friends.

Uh oh, another blog! :-)

Since everyone I know seems to now have a blog on Blogspot I guess I must now join the club. I used to have a blog on Wordpress when I was blogging about my experience in Mary Kay Cosmetics. I actually had great fun writing and had a pretty big MK and Anti MK following. Yes, I just tooted my own horn! hehe.

I figured why do a blog when I don't have a lot of stuff going on. But then I figured what the heck, I'm a follower. I'm following everyone else. So here it is. The blog of Julie. I'm sure I'll figure out something to write about!
